Everyone knows the British enjoy a good cuppa and a crumpet when riding their ponies, so it should come as no surprise that Sex and the City is on track to be the biggest opening romantic comedy move in UK history, and could out-perform Indiana Jones at the box office there.
The Clydesdale Pony probably put in some serious Polo hours to convince these sluts to see the movie, because it opened to $4.2m on Thursday, which was just short of the Indiana Jones opening number, but the Pony Picture did better per theatre than Indiana Jones, ($9,090 v $8,151 per site) and cost over $100m less to produce. The UK is one of the largest markets for movies outside of North America. The movie has grossed $7m altogether since Wednesday in the UK.
