Americans love ponies too! SATC rocks box office.

May 31st, 2008

Sex and the City followed it's massive UK Opening with an equally impressive $26,100,000 estimated first day in America. This one day alone exceeded some analysts expectations for the film. One analyst said.

I just really didn't think such a high concept film could pull off an opening that big. I mean, a Pony living the life of a socialite and being allowed to wed? I thought it'd be a stretch too far for audiences.

I can't help myself! Wherever theres SJP there will ALWAYS be Pony jokes. She should be grateful we are calling her PONY instead of HORSE.

It was a good day for the box office as The Strangers that creepy ass film about a guy with a bag on his head scaring Liv Tyler's hotness into remission also opened far above expectations to $7.4m, a figure that could have scored a #1 opening if it weren't for Indiana Jones and Sex and the City.

Indiana fell 60% from it's former Friday, but will probably not do too badly once the weekend is done, it's made $183m to date, whilst Narnia 2 slipped another 48% putting it way behind the first movie's gross at the same stage.

The only other thing of interest was that Iron Man is doing well still and What Happens in Vegas didn't collapse under the weight of three hos and the pony, actually having its best hold yet. Fuck knows how, maybe Camzo is offering hugs at the screenings. Girls are needy like that, and would like to be hugged by Camzo.
